Political Communications Strategies

I've been around politics and political communication my whole life. I consulted professionally in my first campaign in 1993 (a campaign for city mayor) and have recently advised and built strategies for candidates in races for everything from local school board to United States House of Representatives to Governor of one of America's largest states. All campaigns, large and small, are faced with many similar communications issues - media messages, stump speeches, literature and print strategies, scheduling, audience analysis and more. All of these issues are driven not only by the candidate, but by the candidate's budget and money concerns.

I purposely and severely limit the number of political candidates that I work with. I do this because successful political communication requires me to do a great deal of research before, during and after I partner with these candidates.

I'm also quick to point out that a Washington DC campaign mindset is often disastrous for a local candidate and that for any campaign to be successful, all parties must check their egos at the door and be prepared to operate from a very realistic point of view throughout the campaign.

That said, I stand ready to help you develop and sharpen the messages that will get you elected. I can provide you with not only traditional campaign needs like speechwriting, media writing, press releases, debate preparation, etc., but also with intelligent and timely RESEARCH on your messages and strengths and weaknesses, while thoroughly breaking down your opponents strengths and weaknesses and coordinating a comprehensive message strategy that voters will welcome and your opponent will never see coming.

While all areas of communications interest me, political communication and strategizing is what truly energizes me. If you're looking to start a campaign, if your campaign needs a fresh pair of eyes and ears, or if your campaign is in need of some emergency message surgery, such as crisis strategy, please call on me immediately to see if we are a good fit.

Fees

My fees are based on the project as a whole and vary by the client and the nature of the project. I never charge by the hour. Travel expenses (including business class airfare from Tampa, FL to the nearest major airport to your location), business class hotel accommodations and a modest per diem are charged in addition to my professional fees. In most cases, a 50% deposit and travel expenses are required to secure my services and the remainder is due upon completion of the project.
